Pit Bull Poetry

(By Brian Richter, Pit Bulls are for Lovers Contributor, Owner of Bully Breed Evolution)

Through opened eyes we clearly see
and answer the animal’s plea.
We must see what others ignore
so we alone unlock secrecy’s door.

We look inside the anguished eyes
and we have the burden to be wise.
When others cover their ears
we are the ones to fight the tears.
All of our strength it takes
to endure when our heart aches.
When the images etch our mind
it’s justice we struggle to find. The screams mark our soul
to end the agony our common goal.
Silencing the wails cannot wait
in our hands we hold their fate.If only others would lend their voice
and for the helpless make the choice.
With each action we destroy or defend
on each decision so many lives depend..~BrianPit Bull T-Shirts

RIP Daisy May

Daisy May was a regular on our fanpage. Her mother, Paula Dickenson, would share photos quite frequently of Daisy and her family sitting in front of their fireplace in their rural home in Miller, Missouri. Last week, Daisy got her angel wings. She got out and wandered into the neighbors yard where her neighbor decided to shoot her 6 times. He insisted that his life was in danger, but anybody who knew Daisy knew that she was a gentle and loving dog. No where from the time Daisy entered his property to the time he decided to fire his weapon did she pose any threat to anybody.

This is what loving pit bull owners have to deal with. A world consumed by fear and hatred for innocent animals, and sick people who want retribution against all pit bulls for crimes they did not commit.

We will keep you updated on this story as more information becomes available to us.

For now here is a poem by our friend Brian Richter in honor of Daisy May:

” R.I.P and RUN FREE Daisy May ”

To my dearest family,
some things I’d like to say.
But first of all, to let you know,
that I arrived okay.

I’m writing this from the Bridge.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here there’s no more tears of sadness.
Here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy
just because I’m out of sight.
Remember that I am with you
every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you
when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said, “I welcome you.

It’s good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family,
They’ll be here later on.”

God gave me a list of things,
that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list,
was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night
the day’s chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you…
in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth,
and all those loving years,
because you are only human,
they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry:
it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers,
unless there were some rain.

I wish that I could tell you
all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you,
you wouldn’t understand.

But one thing is for certain,
though my life on earth is o’er.
I’m closer to you now,
than I ever was before.

There are rocky roads ahead of you
and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it
by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy
and I’d like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world,
the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody
who’s in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night…
“My day was not in vain.”

And now I am contented…
that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along
I made somebody smile.

God says: “If you meet somebody
who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up,
as on your way you go.

When you’re walking down the street
with me on your mind;
I’m walking in your footsteps
only half a step behind.”

“And when it’s time for you to go…
from that body to be free.
Remember you’re not going…
you’re coming here to me.”

LOVE NEVER DIES

While I watch my girl laying in bed looking out the window I am imbued with a sense of love so profound that it seems to vacuum the air from my lungs for just a moment. She turns around and looks at me, tail wagging, smiling her big pit bull smile and I feel an unbridled joy cleanse me from all doubt and fear. Something tells me that everything will be okay… because love never dies.

A Poem by Brian Richter

I was standing on a hillside in a field of blowing wheat
and the spirit of a Pit bull was lying at my feet.
He looked at me with kind dark eyes, an ancient wisdom
shining through and in the essence of his being
I saw love there too.
His mind did lock upon my heart as i stood there on that day
And he told me of this story about a place so far away.
I stood upon that hillside in a field of blowing wheat
And in a twinkling of a second His spirit left my feet.
His tale did put my heart at ease, my fears did fade away
About what lay ahead of me on another distant day
“I live among God’s creatures now, In the heavens of your mind
So do not grieve for me, my friend as I am with my kind
My collar is a rainbow’s hue, my leash a shooting star
My boundaries are the Milky Way where I sparkle from afar
The are no pens or kennels here,
For I am not confined, but free to roam God’s heavens
Amongst the bully kind.
I nap the day on a snowy cloud, Gentle breezes rock me
And dream the dreams of earthlings and how it used to be.
The trees are full of liver treats and tennis balls abound,
And milk bones line the walkways, just waiting to be found.
There even is a ring set up, the grass all lush and green,
Where even Rescue Pit bulls become the Best of Breed !
For we’re all winners in this place, we have no faults, you see,
God passes out those ribbons to each one, hey, even me!
I drink from waters laced with gold,
My world a beauty to behold,
and wise old dogs do form my pride to amble at my side.
At night I sleep in an angel’s arms, Her wings protecting me,
And moonbeams dance about us, as stardust falls on thee.
So when your life on earth is spent,
And you stand at Heaven’s gate,
Have no fear of loneliness, for here you know i wait
